The Lawyers’ Guide to Personal Injury Law, by Jason Shapiro, is a comprehensive textbook for plaintiffs’ personal injury attorneys.  The textbook discusses, in-depth, the handling of all types of accident and injury-related cases, including: scaffold accidents, construction accidents, premises liability (such as slip / trip and fall accidents), motor vehicle accidents, child / baby-specific injuries (such as lead-paint poisoning and birth injuries), and government liability.  Discussed are the various types of cases within each category, along with the numerous permutations these cases can take.  The book also highlights the many strict requirements associated with successfully prosecuting each type of case.  Also discussed in great detail are techniques and skills relating to each stage of a personal injury case, including settlement negotiations, court conferences, depositions, jury selection, and trial.

The textbook is intended to educate the New York plaintiffs’ personal injury lawyer, whether a novice or expert, and to serve as an easy-to-use reference at each stage of the proceedings.  Learning to successfully prosecute plaintiffs’ personal injury cases takes many years of experience, leaving the attorney with the task of attempting to retain an enormous amount of information.  The textbook, however, memorializes the information plaintiffs’ personal injury attorneys need to succeed.
